I have tried algae wafers, tropical flakes, granules, vegetables, shrimp pellets, frozen worms, etc. All he does is eat algae off of the aquarium glass but he swims well and seems okay. What should I do?

  1. I would call the pet store where you purchased him and ask them what type of food they were using to feed him while he was at the store. Maybe he is just unfamiliar with the foods that you are offering and doesn't care for them.  Sometimes it takes a few days for fish to acclimate to a new environment.  that could also be the reason.

  2. How long have you had it?  If it has been in the tank for only a few days, it is likely still stressed from the move, and will not eat or feel comfortable until it adjusts.  Keep offering it algae wafers, vegetables, shrimp pellets, and frozen foods, but skip the flakes and granules-- they will continue to be ignored.  Just be patient and let him calm down.
