Here is what i have been thinking about doing. Taking my small TV and I would like to put it in my room. But there is no plug for the TV. there's a power plug in the perfect place but there's no place for that wire with the thin pin. Also when that was done I was going to hook my Xbox 360 up to that TV. I know the TV and console are compatible because the Xbox right now is playing on that TV. Is it even possible to hook a 360 to a TV? And how hard is it to add that TV plug? Thanks

  1. That tv plug your talking about is for cable. If you want cable tv, you need it. A 360 can hook up to your tv the same way your xbox does. It won't be high definition, but you can do it. If you want cable, you'd have to run a cable to it from somewhere where the cable is.

  2. Erm... if the XBOX 360 is already running on that TV, why are you asking whether or not you can hook a 360 to a TV?  If you mean can you hook it directly to the TV without going through a convertor box or cable box, well... yeah, if the TV has the correct hook-ups.

If you want to add a connection for a coaxial cable (the "TV plug" with the thin pin in it), you'll have to tap into your exisiting cable setup, split a section to create a new connection, and run the cable through the wall and into your room.  It's not exactly easy to do, but it's not impossible.  You may have to do it from your attic, though... otherwise you'll have to cut into the wall.

  3. OK if you are hooking up to an old PC monitor, if you have a video port on the monitor (looks like a blue port) then you need to get a 360 HD lead as it will have a video plug which is compatible with your monitor.

Now if the monitor has a lead then yes you can again. Once again you need the 360 HD lead with the video plug but also get yourself a USB 2 Port KVM Switch such as this one:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-KVM-2-Port-P...

Then hook the monitor lead to the main monitor output port, attach your HD lead to one of the available input ports and to power it connect a USB cable from your XB360 to the KVM.

I have this setup at home, where I am sharing my monitor between my XB360 and my computer.

  4. I'm confused...  The 360 is currently connected to that TV, but you aren't sure how to connect it?

The 360 is designed to be connected to a TV.  You can use RFU/Coax, composite video (included with the 360), s-video, component video, HDMI (if your 360 has a HDMI port) or VGA for a monitor.  For anything other than composite video (the yellow/red/white connections) you'll need to buy a separate cable for your 360.  These are available wherever video game accessories are available.

The TV in question needs to have some sort of input - be it coax (like for cable TV) or a set of yellow/white/red RCA inputs (your standard AV input) or something.  Otherwise, what, the TV can only use its antenna for input?  If that's the case, there's no way to connect the 360, or anything else for that matter, to it.  Furthermore, when the TV broadcasts switch to Digital in 2009, that TV will be completely useless as its current analog tuner won't work with the new TV signals.
