  1. I think you would have trouble where ever you go with that kind of language.

Parisians can be a little impatient because it is a big city.

But in the provinces, where life is slower, people are willing to spend more time to help you out.

If English is not your first language, disregard what I say below.

If you are a native English Speaker, why would you so poorly represent your country to France or any other country in the world?  If you speak English like that, and you are native speaker, you should be ashamed.   Think about what you are doing.  You are going to a foreign land where you DON'T speak the language AND you DON'T speak your own language well.  So you are expecting people who speak English as a second language to be able to understand your poor English and help you out?  That would make you look stupid in front of the French, Chinese, Hungarians or what ever race.

Time for you to learn to speak at least your own language properly.

  2. From personal experience there are some VERY rude people in France.  There are a few that will be patient with foreigners though.

  3. well that would be true anywhere. If you don't speak either the local language or some english you might have trouble finding your way.

It's not impossible, just much much harder.

  4. i'm French and Parisian and i'm appalled by the reputation we seem to have

i'm always very patient with tourists, even if they don't speak French nor English... i met Russians, Asians and all trying to get directions without speaking anything else than their language....and with body language, maps, and approximate pronunciation of streetnames etc. it IS possible

so i think you can try... you might find rude people or people in a hurry etc. but i'm sure you'll also find loads of nice people that would just feel guilty to let you wander around, completely lost, and would therefore make their best to help

  5. It is true that is not easy to find your way when you don't speak the language of the country, and it is also true that some french people will not help you if you cannot speak french to them, but I'm french and when I can help someone who don't speak my language I try to help him if he ask or try to ask me something.

  6. aren't you tired to ask the same question over and over again?

  7. No,they don't ! I'm french and every french learn english at school ( they don't speak very well) and all the shop assisant speak french so you won't have problem...

  8. I'm tired of your crappy spelling.

Respect us, we might respect you back.

  9. Would all of you answerers please just stop and read what all of you have already written? My word some of you...who are denying the rude behavior of the french....are being RUDE! And you others that are polite in your answers I applaude you. NOW....who cares if someone decides to go to France...for a visit...and cant speak French? Look at USA....there son(are)lots of foreignors that  MOVE to America y(and) cant hablas(speak) o(or) comprenda(comprehend) ingles(english). Being out of school for 11/12 yrs now I'm suprised I remember that much Spanish(espanol) since I am an American....and I never needed to use it for anything really. BIG SHOCKER was when my son came home from school in 1st grade and sang twinkle twinkle little star in spanish to me before he went to sleep that night.

  10. You would have trouble in Paris, where the French people are well educated and tend to be impatient with poor attempts at the French language.  However, in the countryside, your attempts at French will be appreciated.  Bon Voyage!
