Could someone please help me and tell me the best products to use? Wax/pomade/gel/etc. and what brands? I have straightened it too many times over the years and now I want to stop straightening it..but it is so damaged that I just don't know what to do with it. I was thinking of trying something like coconut and shea butter oils/waxes to style it, because it is so unruly and won't work with normal drugstore products. Would this work??? Thanks so much!

  1. To help repair it, use baby shampoo (it's not as harsh), aussie's 3 minute miracle can be used as a daily conditioner or weekly treatment. garnier fructis leave-in-conditioner and sleek and shine serum can help. I think that sunsilk has some curl cremes (most other brands would too).

  2. I useds to have that issue too.

The best thing to do is once a week, you can do a hot oil treatment (VO5 has done wonders). This will help repair damage.

Also, mash a ripe avocado into a pomade and use this as a pomade mask sort of thing for your hair, leave it in for about 30 minutes, then rinse out, it will help restore moisture and vibrancy.

Another thing to do is use a good leave in conditioner in your hair during the day (Redken makesa variety of these products, just ask your local hair salon which is best for you).

If you are ever tempted to straighten your hair, please be sure to use a heat protecting serum (tresseme is inexpensive and works amazingly).

And for naturally curly hair, use conditioner and shampoo called TIGI Curls Rock! It's amazing for helping the frizzy fly aways.

    Good luck!

  3. get it trimmed every 3 weeks. for scrunching my hair, i use herbal essence totally twisted. it makes it curly, but it doesnt make it hard and crunchy or give it the wet look. i just use the shampoo and conditioner, and then the gel. i straighten my hair too, and it's pretty dry, but i use more conditioner than shampoo, and i let the conditioner sit in my hair for about a minute in the shower. also, don't use 2 in 1, because it just doesn't give you the same effect as the conditioner does.

  4. oild girl oil

  5. Hello,

I hope I can be of help here are my suggestions.

First, great that you stopped with the heat, now its time to repair

Key to repairing damaged hair is quality conditioners

You want to buy a deep conditioner (like ORS Replenishing Pak), a moisturizing conditioner (like Nexxus Humectress) and a leave in conditioner (like Giovanni Direct leave-in)

you want to deep condition atleast once a week

Second Shea butter is GREAT it will soften your hair and provide some key moisture

To style your curly hair I would suggest you use some curl defining products so you can avoid straighteneing it and also really see the beauty of your curls there are ALOT of curl defining products but a common product is Fantasia IC hair gel (apply to wet hair and allow to air dry)

Also try some protective styles like, twists or hair buns for 2-3 weeks at a time your hair will thank you for it,

Lastly, if your ends are really damaged it may be wise to get them trimmed off I know getting trims is a touchy subject for many women but your hair will be healthier and LOOK much better

    good luck!

  6. you can straighten your hair 10 times aday everyday you just need to know how to take care of it.

try a line carried at walmart called coconut milk. they help hydrate your hair alot. also always use a heat protector such as a smoothing oil or shine spray. also, get a hair cut every 5 - 6 weeks max! people think they can go forever with out a tirm and thats not true! you go that long those spilt ends spilt the whole way up and break off.

Another thing you can do is use a line from Redken called extreme....it helps replace protein in your hair to make it healthier.
