  1. Cornwall education is excellent. Although Devonian, both myself and my daughter are Cornwall educated. The Education Authority at Truro is really on the ball.

I suggest you look at education league tables when they are published. If you are looking for employment, this will make your decision for you, as good employment opportunities in Cornwall are hard to come by.

  2. Give it some real thought before you commit yourself. We did this 15 years ago, and although I love living here now, it was VERY HARD  to start with.

Jobs are hard to come by, and very badly paid,(most jobs are minimum wage) yet the cost of living, and house prices are very high.

Don't expect to be welcomed with open arms, as the Cornish don't take too kindly to people moving in from elsewhere, AND they let you know it.

Coming here on holiday, and actually living here are entirely different, believe me, and you will struggle to survive, as transport is unreliable, and sparse, unless you live in the City, and then you might as well stay put, as Truro City can be just as rough as any other City, with good parts, and bad parts.

I was shocked at what I had moved to, as it was like stepping back to the 1930's, I had just 1 coal fire to heat my house, and I lived in an isolated village with no friends, and no prospects. I begged my husband for 4 years, to take me "home" but we couldn't afford to move back, and had to "stick it out"

I made many friends in my village, but they were not Cornish, they had moved in, like me, and 9 out of 10 ended up going back to where they moved from within months.

I live around the Fowey area, which is extremely beautiful, but if I had my time over, and knew what I know now, I would NEVER have moved here, as we experienced some of the hardest years of our lives. It's only the fact that our kids have all grown up and married, and the fact we now have 8 Cornish born Grandchildren, and also the fact that there's  now only the 2 of us to worry about, that has stopped me from throwing in the towell, and going back to the Midlands.

Cornwall is extremely beautiful (in parts) but please remember, you can't eat the scenery!!! Most people DO end up moving back.

  3. if youve been going to cornwall for 30 years you must have some idea of nice places to live surely /then from there narrow it down to towns and suburbs and research schools etc

  4. go to zurich , swiss.

  5. Truro is a great town and has a really good school - Truro School.
