  1. As Amber and Bittersweet have already suggested, contacts i am just going to give you some names of theorists you must learn about:

    Piaget, Froebel, Vygotsky.

This would be a good starting point.

Best of luck with your career.

  2. You need to go through training so you will need to look at colleges in your area that offer the course.

But in the meantime you could contact local kindergartens and ask about volunteering. You may be able to train as an assistant on the job!

  3. I would suggest you look at childcare courses in your local area. Also try to gain work experience in a local kindergarten or babysitting a child/children.  Hope this helps!

  4. I am currently working on my bach. degree in Early Childhood Education.  I will be certified to teacher PreK-Third Grade.  This is the best way to learn how to be a kindergarten teacher.  Wright State in Ohio is the best college to do this in (in my opinion, I am a little biased).  Hands on experience is the best teaching tool available and Wright State sends you out to classrooms to get that experience.  I also recommend any Harry Wong videos and books.  I currently own "How to be an Effective Teacher: The First Days of School".

    Hope this helps.

  5. College... I don't know of any state that allows someone to be a kinder teacher without a bachelor's degree.  If you have an interest in studying the field before college read books on early childhood development to familiarize yourself with the stages of development.  I would also read books on teaching phonemic awareness.  In the mean time, get a job at a daycare, that's what I did while I worked on my teaching degree.  Even though I worked with toddlers, it's an awesome opportunity to begin phonemic awareness, classroom management and parent/ staff communication skills.

  6. In the U.S., most Kindergarten teachers are required to have a Bacherlor's Degree with an early childhood endorsement.  So that's your first step.

There isn't just one book out there.  You can read several to help you form your own philosophy.  In my opinion, a best teachers have a firm grasp on their philosophy and can explain every aspect of it...with proof.

Experience is the best way to become a good teacher.  I like how one mentioned that you could volunteer in a Kindergarten classroom.  Go for it!  It's such an eye opener!  And then you also have a mentor to help you become the best you can!  Good luck.
