Hi I was wondering how I could get to the stuff being given away in www.freecycle.com example a couch?

My boyfriends sister told my boyfriend about www. freecycle.com and sayed thats how they got rid of stuff.We currently dont have anything to get rid of and I was wondering how we went about getting stuff given away.Example couch

freecycle's an international movement based of community groups to save items from landfill

so basically, you find your most local group at www.freecycle.org (or the site below) and apply to join the group - then once you're a member, you'll be able to see what other people in your area have to offer, and would like.

from there, you can either respond to other people's messages (eg if they're offering something you want), or post a wanted message of your own

i'm a freecycle moderator (no 1 person owns freecycle, although the groups are all run by local volunteers), and i think it's a brilliant idea!

I use to own and run freecycle..not sure if they aloud that..but I don't think there that great..they run your like cattle..if you don't do what they tell you..your out the door. I gave up the group for that reason and how they treat there members. I would find a place in your home town that take stuff for that. Some people think that freecycle is the greatest thing..only until you run into someone whois controling..can you don't posted your phone or address in any of the postings. You don't have ppl come to your place..you met that person at a mall where it is safer so if anything happen there are people around.
