Hi Iam from India, will be moving 2 Basel in a shortwhile with my hus n 2 yr old kid.Just want general advice?

I have few questions ...

1. How are the medical facilities? Will doctors be available immediately

in case of any ailments or will it be purely by prior appointments?

2. What about schooling for kids? Do they have English as a language for

toddlers?

3. Do we get dhal, rice, wheat , tamarind etc?

4. Will there be a need to own a car?

5. Do we have Asian/Indian malls/ restaurants??

are you going to switz??oh great...am also from india settled in canada here in canada u get everything as in INDIA there are seperate INDIAN Malls too....am not sure abt your place....i think u will get all u wanted there also....regarding food stuffs u may get it in malls...and owning a car is up to your requirement....restaurents  it depends upon which part of city u stay...wishing you all the best to your family.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basel follow this net address for information

The medical facilities in Basel are very good the doctors are available on appointments but there is also emergency doctors on call.

They do not have any English language schooling for toddlers specially in Basel if I'm not mistaken.

There are few shop in Switzerland where you can buy some Indian stuff but I'm not sure if you will get it in Basel I remember that in Geneva there was one. Here is a link of some shops in Zurich.  http://www.indiancookerylessons.com/shop...

Regarding car it depends on you how free you want to feel if you do not mind traveling on rail than its OK the Swiss railways are very efficient.

There is a Indian Restaurant in Basel. Here is the website to the Restaurant. http://www.amrutham.ch/. You will not find any Indian or Asian malls in Basel. You can find also some Indian Restaurants in Zurich, Bern and Geneva.
