Hi. If I put HD-DVD file (not HD DVD) in Play Station3 Harddisk, can I get a HD resoluiton from my television?

  1. No, not really.  It might improve the quality a little, but the ability to display something in HD pretty much rests with the TV.


  2. No - PS3 plays Blue-ray only in high def. YOu can watch regualr DVD's and Blue Rays only - hope that helps!

  3. Not at the moment, it'll treat the HD file as an unknown type. But don't feel too let down, I imagine they'll come up with firmware upgrades for all major consoles such that they'll be cross compatible. Some devices might require new hardware though!

  4. You will not be able to play it PS3 will not recognize the HD-DVD file from a disk or from it's hard drive, The HD-DVD is a proprietary format supported buy it's backers (Toshiba, Microsoft) only. Blue-Ray is the way, HD-DVD will not play.
