So now we want to go on acruise but learned they do a background check with the FBI for all there passangers. Is he going to have this old warrant thrown in his face now after all these years. Does anyone know if a warrant will even show up and if it did what would they do about it?

  1. It will show up. Federal doesn't go by the whole 7 year rule. As far as what they would do, report it. All he's looking at is a failure to appear which doesn't carry time, and if it was really just a LITTLE pot, he'd prolly get probation or 30 days max depending on his record. If I were him I'd just get real with it so I can actually enjoy life rather than look at everything like, "I can't b/c I punked out on court". Especially not over something so trivial.

  2. A warrant is a warrant.... and never goes away, except thru a court disposition. Have your friend take care of it. If its really old, just a fine will clear the warrant. Even if he does not go on this cruise, a traffic stop for a seat belt violation somewhere, someplace will get a set of cuffs on the wrists.

  3. Yeah, it would show up....they'd most likey report him to the authorities...the best way for him to take care of that warrant is to turn himself in.

  4. i am going on a cruise next month on carnival.  i had to go online and register before the sailing date.  it has something to do with homeland security.  not sure what they are checking for, but if i were him, i wouldn't take the chance until i get this matter cleared up.  probably all cruise lines do this since 9/11.

  5. Sure will.  They'll nail him at customs.  The best thing is to do the right thing and take care of it.  But after all this time if they really wanted him they'd have found him.

  6. you are alway better off to check with the consulate, if you are going to the USA he might not get in. I know Canada are really hard even if you have a drink driving offence.

  7. Yes they will find out trust me. Unless it is in another county or state.

If they find out it would be a fail er to peer charge.

  8. Your friend should take care of his problem because it isn't gonna go away.Turning himself in with the intentions of clearing his name is a positive step, and a judge will take that into account when he makes his ruling.

Walking through life with a dark cloud over your head can't be fun.

Several years ago I got three days in jail for driving with a revoked license ( 3rd offense.) I met a guy who had commited a crime more than ten years before. He got pulled over in a different part of the state, and when the criminal background check was ran,the old charge came up.He had already spent over a month in a real s**+*-hole of a jail awaiting trial.

The bottom line: Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

  9. He should of went to court. They would have probably given him a small fine. Now he's probably got a bench warrant in the state this happened in. There is a possibility that the statute of limitations may have run out. Call some lawyers in the phone book, they do free phone consultations.
