I want to know what you think about us (Americans). It's okay, I can take negative comments.

  1. All countries have good and bad people... but most of the Americans I know are very kind and wonderful people.

  2. America is a great country however people are people, there are good and bad people no matter where they are in the world. We have nothing against America,in fact Americans are our friends.I have lots of great friends in different parts of the US.

  3. We get tired of being bombarded with your issues in the media.

Currently we are enjoying the fall of your dollar.  It has boosted our dollar to new heights.  So thank you.

Just let us know if you need any more oil, water, lumber, marijuana, or beef.  We have lots to spare, just let me adjust the price for your American dollar...........

  4. What who thinks about whom?  Do I know you?

  5. On average, the average Canadian likes the average American.

Sometimes your politicians can be a bit of a drag, though...

And also some of your big companies which come up here to do business.

One thing we just can't get over:

Because much of our TV, many of our textbooks, and a great deal of our "news" (whatever form) comes from the USA, we tend to know a whole lot about your country.

    BUT:

There are an incredible number of Americans who are somewhat ignorant of anything outside the lower 48 states.  We sure do wish the some of you would bone up a bit on the world outside mainland USA.

Other than that, you will find a small number of Canadians who can be as ignorant as some Americans.  Those tend to be the ones that made up their minds to dislike the USA or Americans a long time ago, and they are going to keep on doing it come heck or high water.  You'll have to put up with those.

There are reasons for those Canadians being anti-American though:

    1) They have had to deal with some of the ingnoramuses that have come north, and appear to be blonde and clueless.

    2) They have been bullied once - or twice! - by a few of your fellow citizens, who can be quite arrogant whent they want.

    3) They had a bad experience on a trip south.

    4) Some are simply jealous, for one reason or another.  There is nothing you can do about that.

The solution to that is simple:

There are some people whose minds you cannot change.

BUT:  When you do deal with any foreigners, you have to recall, you are representing your whole country (unfortunately) -- so try to be smart, non-arrogant, and diplomatic.

Another thing you should impress on your leaders:

    Yes!  We know about 9-11!

Yes!  We lost people and property too!

(A lot of Canadians worked/visited those buildings.)

AND:  We were gracious hosts when your planes landed here!

    SO:

Why do you all too often treat us like the enemy?

    We are not the enemy.

The enemy hates us as much as you!

We did not go into Iraq, that is true.

We went into Afghanistan, which is as big a mess!

Americans have to remember, especially when dealing with Canada:

    1) Parliamentary Govt. Just like England.

    2) There are only almost 40 million of us, there are almost 400 milliomn of you.

    3) Your economy is more than 10x larger.

    4) Our land mass is bigger than yours in abosolute terms, so we are, obviously, much more spread out.

    5) We watch many of the same TV shows/movies, and read many of the same books.

    6) Yes, our level of technonology is at roughly the same level as yours.

    7) NO, our health care system is not an abomination.

    8) We are friends and allies, not slaves or servants...

  6. Most of you are religious nuts ! All the way from Oz.
