Hi R&P, Can You Help Me Enjoy My Last Day of Summer...?

By giving me some bands to listen to? Just list a few of your favorite bands, doesn't matter what genre. As long as its not Top 40 pop punk stuff.

I'm into whatever...Indie, Punk, New Wave, Folk, Metal (well...maybe), Experimental, Gothic, Post- Punk, Classical, Electronic...

I'm probably not gonna be on here for a while, and I'm going to need some new music to get me through my projects and essays and whatnot.

  9. Pink Floyd and the London philharmonic orchestra

    it's good classical

  10. I like Classical Rock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odeztf1nK...     Some of the giants in classical rock together enjoy

  11. The new Breeders album, "Mountain Battles," is alternative rock heaven, and the best thing they've done since "Pod"

Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes. Melancholy harmonies that will get stuck in your brain and hole up in there for days.

Abe Vigoda - Skeleton, nope not the actor - the noise/punk-rock band.

Wolf Parade - if you haven't listened Apologies to the Queen Mary - you really need to get on that.  Then check out "At Mount Zoomer" their new LP - great sophomore effort.

While you're at it - do yourself a favor and check out the Handsome Furs and the Sunset Rubdown.  (Handsome Furs + Sunset Rubdown = Wolf Parade)

The new Walkmen album, I've only just gotten it, but so far so good.

Tokyo Police Club - basically still limiting themselves to being the Austrailian Strokes - but there are some transcendent moments on their new album "Elephant Shell" that signify something greater in their future.

Portishead - Third - the best of the trip-hop movement (in my opinion, anyway) made a new album this year and it might be my favorite.

If you'd like anymore recommendations, just e-mail me I'd be happy to help out.  I'm chock full of music recommendations.

  12. The Walkmen have a few nice tunes.  Featuring a great drummer...

Especiallly the 2002 Album "Bows and Arrows."

    ______________________________________...

Nice tunes, Prof.  Okkervil River is really starting to grow on me.  Yeah, I like Deerhoof, don't think I have ever heard that song before.

Thanks for the Decemberists suggestion.  Found this one:

    Quality stuff, Prof.  Thanks!

  13. How about Hanson?

I'm not joking either. People should give them a chance, they truly aren't as bad as some people think.

If you choose to listen to Hanson, only listen to these Cd's

    This Time Around

    Underneath

The Best of Hanson live and electric

    The Walk

Middle of Nowhere ACOUSTIC(note- only listen to the ACOUSTIC one, because the other one is girly voiced Hanson)

Some songs I recommend by them

    - The Great Divide

    - Georgia

    - Go

    - Tearing it down

    - Penny and Me

    - Strong enough to break

    - Get up and go

    - if only

    - this time around.

  15. Early Dandy Warhols. If you haven't heard their early stuff, the first 2 1/2 records were very good. Not quite sure changed after that, but it just wasn't very good at all after that.

Tall Tales and the Silver Lining

    Imaad Wasif:

Can't find a good youtube, but if you do the iTunes store thing and like the Decemberists at all and you've got $5 to spare the Tain is totally amazing.

    Hey Mr. Bernstein.

Thanks a lot buddy. You know, I actually have that Microphones record, but I got it in a rush of stuff (probably ~15 records) that a friend of mine burned for me when I was in a bit of a rut a while back. I never really gave it a good listen. I'll have to do that. Thanks for the reminder. That was a really great tune.

That is a great choice of Decemberists tunes too. I'd actually say it's quite possibly next in line for my favorite of their tunes after the Tain. Have you heard their cover of Clementine? They did a good job of it for an Elliott Smith comp out of Portland.

The Deerhoof tune is off of Reveille (This Magnificent Bird Will Rise). Great track, I like the album version a lot. I like the energy of that live one, but the album cut is really great.

I'm glad you're digging the Okkervil. I really like the record that the song I linked comes from. My wife and I are actually gonna see them in a couple weeks, pretty excited.

Hope everything is going really great man.

  16. Try...

    Evaline

    Bayside

    As Tall As Lions

    Wax on Radio

    Circa Survive

    Mew

    Petshop Boys

    The Photo Atlas

    Kill Hannah

hope you like some of them

  17. Wave goodbye to summer with Echo & the Bunnymen.
