Hi. What is the most fun kind of pleasure boat to spend a nice day on?

Speed boat if you are new to the water and like thrills (roller coaster).

Dinghy sailing if you like physical input into the thrills (like horse riding at a gallop)

Cruising sailboat if you like being mellow (like horse riding at walking speed/trot)

Fishing if you like fishing

Tour boat if you like to combine comfort with fresh air and a guided tour.

But be aware that sailing is very much wind dependant  As my wife says "it can be hours of boredom interspersed with minutes of shear terror".

All of the above are good ideas, depending on your preference, but don't forget the Catamaran. Lounging around under the sails soaking up the suns rays and drinking tropical drinks with little umbrellas.

Pontoon boat with a big motor. It's like having a really fast patio. Walk around, fish ski swim and lay out on your own sun chair. Take the biggest cooler you want. If some one gets on your nerves--exile them to the roof. I just don't see a down side.

This depends on your location.  Lakes and protected water or rivers and bays in a little more open area or coastal off shore.  

In protected waters for a just plain fun boat a pontoon boat maybe the way to go.  Sail boats are a lot of fun but you have to be involved in the operation I feel to really enjoy.  If you like to get wet than a speed boat that pull a skier or a tube, That can be blast.

For off shore fishing a larger boat with a cabin.  

Get out there on the water and enjoy it.  Boat Safe !!

Sailing for me.  Cruising along at a gentle speed, no sound other than the splash of the water and whoosh of the wind and creaking of the boat, pleasant company, beautiful scenery, and all's right with the world.
