Hi all ive got a vga to dvi conector with my new pc will this convert ny signal from my pc to digital thanks?

hi all wih my new dell pc i got a connector that fits the vga conector on my system board and converts it to dvi end so i just take a dvi cable from the pc end to my monitor...my Qs is will this make the signal digital or as good as a cheap digital grahics card...my prob is that my pci express slot is being used and i cant find a cheap standard pci low profile dvi graphics card..than ks all

    I believe the signal is read as a digital one even though its starts of analog before being converted


  2. Nope.  Some versions of the DVI connector (DVI Integrated) can carry analog video as well as digital.  The little grid of 4 contacts around a blade carry analog video.  See the bottom of  http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info...

  3. No way. Upscaling cables can improve quality, but they won't make the signal digital. And upscaling cables are usually DVI to HDMI. Upgrade your motherboard to one with a 16x PCI-E 2.0 slot for the graphics card. Then get the new nVidia 9500GT. Only about £50 but will do Crysis some justice.
