  1. I found a couple of small references to Talavera:

    Under a reference to BALDOYLE in the Library of Ireland site below there is the following reference:

    "Donaghmede, the seat of Mrs. King; Talavera, of Capt. N. Furnace; and Grange Lodge, of W. Allen, Esq., are the principal seats."

    In References from the National Archives of Ireland site on the Howth area;

    1811 - Furnace - Mrs - "Letter from Robert Swift to John Aird respecting the terms required by Mrs. Furnace on Aird's quitting her house at Baldoyle"

    and among others;

    1811 - Aird - John - "Letter from John Aird respecting a dispute between him and Mrs. Furnace concerning the rent of the house formerly occupied by him at Baldoyle"

    As these "references relate to matters concerning the building of the Harbour in Howth" the above John Aird may have been the same "John Aird, Resident Engineer" who supervised the building of Dun Laoghaire harbour.

  2. Check out Ballygally Castle in  County Antrim, NI. Good old ghost connection.

  3. never heard of it and I know the area well.  It doesn't sound like an Irish name. Are you sure you have it right.  Also do you know where in Baldoyle which is County Dublin by the way.

    Ok have checked it out and there was a Talavera House. A man called Captain Furnace lived there.  I will see if I can locate it on an old local map.
