Hi I live with a roommate & I can't put my 38'' PHILIPS HDTV/LCD in the living room because my roommate already has a SDTV in the living room. I was planing buying Yamaha 7.1 channel & I was thinking setting it on my bedroom. What do you think?

  1. Not at all i have 6.1 denon receiver with Mirage speakers in my bedroom room with 42 inch LCD Sony. along with PS3 xbox, xbox 360, PS2, gamecube, genesis  snes and n64 with computer attached to LCD screen. The only downside to my set up is the heat thrown off by all the electronics in my room lol

  2. Way Too Much What?

    >TOO MUCH FOR YOUR ROOMATE!

Settle this system into your bedroom (and ENJOY!),

and come next year, They will be begging for you

to move it into the living room!

And put a lock on your bedroom door!

or they will be in your room when you are not there!

  3. depends how big your bedroom is. the extra speakers in a 7.1 setup are not discrete dolby digital channels. 5.1 is,7.1 ads two more channels from the surround channels, thus adding  a bit more effects, but not from original movie content. 5.1 is just fine, (if not better) for your bedroom. the extra money probably won't be worth  it.

  4. Not at all. The only thing that may raise a problem (not a big one) is running wires to all the speakers. However, if your speakers are to large to mount on the wall, that presents a bigger problem. In other words, you'll never be sonically limited. But the physical size of the speakers might make the job challenging. By all means, try it.

  5. Not really, considering there's hardly anything out there in 7:1.

  6. not at all, you just need to adjust the levels carefully to get the full experience from the software you are playing, especially the bass from the sub output. NO Yamaha subs, I've bad experience from their subs, they do make good electronics but not subwoofers, go for some establish companies like Velodyne or REL... they're more expensive but they're worth every penny for the value.

  7. more is never enough... especially with sound... if you get the receiver and only go with 5 speakers, you will be able get get higher wattage speakers as well because the power would be compressed to 5 channels instead of 7
