  1. Yes, if you TV is HD-ready, then you need a HDMI cable if you want to get the best quality out of it. Because HD-ready usually has 1200x720 pixels, wich is less than the Full-HD (1920x1080) but still beats the old CRT (big Tv's) and normal scart can't send that much information to the tv.

You CAN use normal cables, though it's ot nearly as good, and most of the times you get a HDMI cable together with your HD-ready/Full-HD TV

    Hope this helps

  2. Good question, i need to know that too!! lol

  3. Depends on how you  get the HD source.  If you only watch TV via an antenna and the set has the digital tuning built in then you need nothing else.

When you need an HDMI cable is when you add a Blue Ray DVD player, HD cable box or HD satellite receiver.  You can also use 5 RCA cables to hook up the Component Video (needs 3 RCA) and Stereo Audio (needs 2 RCA) in lieu of the HDMI.  The difference is HDMI is one cable and all digital whereas the 3 RCA cables for component are for analog signals at a higher quality than is available with analog composite (1 RCA) or analog S-video connections.
