Hi does anybody know why there is a statue and gardens named after charlie Chaplin in Alassio Italy?

Chaplin stayed in Alassio. There's a wall with signed tiles from all the celebrities who have visited. One of the signatures is Charlie Chaplin. There's also a Hemmingway tile.

It's no stranger than the Frank Zappa memorial in Vilnius.
