  1. Just get a BOSE sound system, if you can afford it.

  2. You want to get an audio receiver that supports digital audio input to the receiver via an HDMI connector, and also supports 8 channel (7.1) PCM input. This is because the PS3 will decode every DVD or Blu-Ray audio format itself, but it needs to get them out via HDMI to a compatible receiver.

I have this sort of setup with my PS3. An HDMI cable runs from the PS3 to my Sony STR-DG720 receiver, then another runs rom the receiver to my DLP television. Some Blu-Ray players need a receiver that can decode some of the new audio formats, like TrueHD, but the PS3 with the latest software updates can decode all of these on-board.

Usually when you buy a receiver, you just buy the receiver... speakers are separate. Some companies do sell a "surround sound in a box" sort of setup, with speakers and a receiver/amp... check around if that's what you're looking for.

  3. if your looking for a receiver you should be looking for something that has a digital optical input as for your playstation 3 has a digital optical output.  As for speakers I would look for a Home Theatre system to keep costs on the lower side and something with high wattage.

  4. nope. sry.
