  1. When you start to talk slow down. Focus on taking enough time to say what you need to say and then count to 3 or 4 seconds before you answer the next question. Focus on spacing time rather than saying erm cos that only tells them you are trying to think what to say.

Controlling panic is the key - so focus on counting seconds rather than trying to bumble on and on with erms, ohs etc.

    Best wishes. UK

  2. Get as prepared as possible. Run through potential questions and focus on not saying "er" "um" or "and" where it isn't necessary. When you're talking and you feel it coming try your best to find the word or just go silent. It is better to not say "er" and instead be visibly putting together the correct response. Although it may feel stupid, it is more accepted and makes you look more intelligent than just saying small filler words (which actually may distract you more than if you have a moment of silence and clarity). But really focus on not using those words. I had trouble with that in public speaking and really focused on it and was able to stop myself. My speeches came off much more professional and intelligent.
