do you think that the present inclination of students towards commerce means a death trap towards scientific research?? Why/ why not?

I think that's not the case.At least not where I live.Here most of the students take up science after the 10th board exams as their subject.

Anyway I myself am greatly interested for research and am thinking of making it my career in the future.And yeah you are right in one way anyway.Research is no more such an attractive career anyway nowadays for the students.

And yes Yahoo answers simply a fabulous place to carry out debates and stuff.
