  1. I drive from Spain to the UK occasionally. I always use Michelin maps. That site will give you everything you need to know including where all the speeding cameras are in France.

  2. When we drove to the Barcelona grand prix a few years back, we got an evening seacat crossing from Dover and drove  till about midnight and stayed in Motel just off the motorway. Next day we drove to Montpelier (via Lyon I think) and stayed overnight. Finally only takes a few hours from Montpelier to Barcelona - The Med on your left, the Pyrenees on your right.

  3. As soon as you pass the French border into Catalonia, follow the signs for Tarragona (it´s past Barcelona ) and then the signs to Alicante (you´ll see Benidorm on the signs on the motorway after that) The motorway is called AP7

    Have fun!!!

  4. If you want to skip out France altogether, you can get a ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao or Plymouth to Santander, I've done this a few times, it will be a lot easier than driving through france

  5. use google maps to find a route. It's very good and easy to use.

  6. Easy! Directly from North to South via Paris, Montpellier, Barcelona!

    Overall distance 1.814 km,

Driving time approx. 16 1/2 hours,

    Petrol costs:149.77 £ (Consumption: 145.41 litres)

    Travel costs: 418.04 £ (Cost rate: 0.23 £/mi)
