I recently changed my router and I can't connect my laptop (wireless) to my desktop. The problem is with the router setting because I switched back to the old router (netgear) and the two computers could share files without a problem. Any advice?

  1. thas because you have to disable dchp for a sec then enable it  from the router.. put the

.once you go into your settings

look uinder advance in the wireless tab in the router setting

if you cant get into the router try this ( linksys code )is.....(192.168.1.1 ) THEN THE LOGIN SCREEN SHOULD APPEAR..OHH BY THE WAY...THE  NUMBERS GO INTRO THE TOP SEARCH WHERE THE WWW GOES

SO ITS  (192.168.1.1)  THEN CLICK GO AND IT SOULD PUT YOU IN THE LOGIN SCREEN

    COMMAND IS                            ADMIN -USERNAME

  2. Actually the problem could be with the firewall on the desktop machine:

that's because the firewall could have been set to trust addresses in the range that the Netgear used (such as 192.168.0.x) and could be rejecting addresses that the WRT54G is using (such as 192.168.1.x - see the 1 instead of the 0?)

  3. Did you make any router configuration changes?  If you did, you might want to reset the router by pressing the Reset button on the back of the router for about 15 seconds and see if helps.
