When adopted kids first come into your home what do you need to get them? Do they have clothes already? What else should be ready for them when they arrive? WHAT I DIDNT SPECIFY BEFORE WAS: THESE KIDS ARE AGES 4, 5, 6, AND8. THANK YOU AND SORRY ABOUT THE CONFUSION. A BEST ANSWER WILL BE CHOSEN.

  1. bunk beds

let them pick out there own bedding

    underware

    soxs

    shoes

one outfit for a change of clothes and then let them pick out the rest of their clothes

    toothbrush

    toothpaste.... get spiderman/barbie

    combs

    brushes

    pjs

let them pick out some of their favorite foods

all you need is big arms for hugs and lots of love.

let them make the decisions about all the other stuff. believe me, they know what they like and don't. so don't waste your money before they get there.

    bet wishes.

  2. If they're coming from foster care they may have a bag or two of belongings. You chould be sure that they have a permenant space for their things. A spot for thier coats buy the door, a chair at the table and spot for their toothbrush with yours. Integrate their thing within the house so they know that this is home.

A friend of mine from grade school. lived out of a packed bag. she never knew when she would be transfered.

I would stock up on their sizes of clothes and school supplies.

  3. Friends of mine adopted two boys age 6 & 8 this fall. They came from a Foster home and had a ton of clothes and toys, as well as a bunk bed and bedding. I think it depends on where the kids are coming from, whether they have items already or not ...

  4. I would think some age specific toys and some new pj's and a lot of good food and lots of love.

  5. I would wait.  You didn't say where they were coming from, they must have some clothes and you don't know their sizes.

When they arrive take them on a shopping trip and end it with some ice cream!

Good luck to you.  Have fun and enjoy (don't worry too much).

  6. The basics.  Don't panic!  the stores will still be open once they've arrived

Oh and perhaps send a bag for them ahead of time to pack their stuff into - it's so awful when foster kids have to use a refuse sack for their stuff :(

    Good luck

  7. Its very nice that you are doing this magnificent thing! God bless you! To answer your question, I'm sure the children will bring with them at least 2 or 3 outfits or maybe more depending on where they live now. It would be a great idea for you to take them shopping for new clothes since this will serve as a bonding experience for the new family and will show them that you trully care about them enough to allow them to choose outfits they trully like and enjoy. For example, many kids love a certain cartoon and prefer to buy their t-shirts etc. with the picture of the cartoon on them. Good luck!!

  8. I would have some basic stuff, then wait for them to arrive to take them shopping and letting them choose what they want....

the basic stuff include some tshirts, pants (one pair should be enough to begin with) some sort of bedding, toothbrush, toothpaste, socks, (i would hold off on shoes), some entertainment stuff: papers and lots of coloured pencils and markers, some toys and some story books.....

and needless to say, Lots of Love and hugs....

    Best of Luck :)

  9. The basics.  My friend who fosters also tries to get each child something "special" when they arrive.  A stuffed animal, a special doll, something to "cuddle" with.  Her thought is that it is something for them to let them know they are safe and so they don't feel alone.
