  1. The best way would be to go by train. The closest station to Dover Port is Dover Priory. I suggest you use the route planner on this website: www.nationalrail.co.uk enter stanstead as your departure point and dover priory as your final destination. It also gives you the fares, so you have an idea of how much yo'd be spending...

oh I just found a good route for you:

    Stansted Airport Rail Station:

Take the National Express East Anglia Train towards Liverpool Street and get off at Tottenham Hale Underground Station, change to the Victoria line (pale blue line on the underground)

    Tottenham Hale Underground Station:

Take the Victoria line towards Brixton and get off at Warren

Street, change to the Northern Line (the black line on the underground)

    Warren Street Station:

Take the Northern Line towards Kennington (or Morden) and get off at Charing Cross Station. Follow the signs to Charing Cross Rail station, (note, you will currently be in the Charing Cross underground station)

    Charing Cross Rail Station:

Take the Southeastern Train towards Ramsgate Rail Station and get off at Dover Priory.

And there you have it... its not as complicated as it looks, and should take about 3.5 hours. At stanstead and charing cross you will have to look for the correct platform for the train at the station itself. (there are normally electronic boards around)

Buy a ticket to Dover Priory from Stanstead itself, and ask at the the ticket booth whether it will cover a journey on the underground as well.

    Hope this helps...
