  1. well im 12 but they just taught us this in health class that if ur parents or his parents have the eyes you culd pass on any of the colors

  2. It's nothing to be concerned about, when conceiving there is always the slightest chance that your DNA information doesn't pass onto the baby, but that been said ragardless of the eyes your son may start to have your natural hair colour or your face just like any other child.

    It happens all the time.

  3. Yes of course.  Its genetics.  It comes from further back than you or your husband.  There are many families who have brown eyes and yet their children have blue.   My parents had my youngest brother with hazel eyes and their  eyes were dark brown.  In sister in law has two children with green eyes and yet  they have brown eyes and another in law both parents have green eyes and their children have brown eyes!!  Its not at all uncommon!!

  4. ive got brown, partner has blue, my daughter has hazel

  5. Someone in your ancestry has brown eyes.

And yes,my ex husband has brown eyes, and I have green eyes.We have 4 children--2 with brown ,1 with green ,and one with light blue eyes unlike either of ours.

Best wishes to you and your baby:-)

  6. My mom and dad both have green eyes. I have green eyes, one sister has blue and one sister has brown.

  7. yes i have,Well my friend has green eyes but her mum has blue eyes and her dad has brown eyes(weired a!)

    Look it up on google.

it will help you understand more about it.

  8. Are you sure that your husband is the father, if he is definatley the father then those brown eyes must have been past down from grandparents or decendants.Be proud

  9. it happen to my aunt . she has brown eyes , he has green and the baby has blue it happens alot usually on the third generation .

  10. Everyone carries two genes for eye color, one from each parent.  It is entirely possible for the offspring of two people to have an eye color that differs from their parents, depending on the combination of genes each parent passes along.

None of my siblings or I have the same eye color as either of our parents.  My mom carries light brown & dark brown and my dad carried green & blue (my guess per my understanding of heredity).

My mom’s eyes are light brown, my dad’s were bluish green (an apparent combination of his two genes).

My two older brothers both have hazel eyes (combination of my mom’s light brown & my dad’s green)

I have dark brown eyes…but that means I also carry a gene for either blue or green eyes. With my husband’s green eyes, our children’s eye color is a complete crapshoot.

Your situation is odd though. To put it simply

brown + green or blue = brown

    green + blue = green

    green + green = green

    blue + blue = blue

You have to have two blue genes to get blue eyes. If either of you carried a brown gene you’d have brown eyes. In other words, if you both have blue eyes, you should both have blue gene and shouldn’t have been able to pass on anything but blue genes.  I don’t know how to explain that one to you.

  11. I have dark brown eyes, as has my first 2 children

    My husband has green eyes

My third child has blue eyes!!!  We assume they have come from my husbands mother.

  12. probably a recessive gene, very rare... but babies eyes have been known to change colour... so they might change to blue when it's a bit older or another mix :)

  13. Yes. Blue is a recessive gene. this means that you both received a blue and a brown gene from your parents or grandparents. Because blue is recessive your eyes are brown because you had a brown gene and brown beats blue. When your son was conceived he got the blue gene from you and same from his dad so has blue eyes because he didn't inherit any brown gene to 'beat the blue'

  14. Both my daughters have blue eyes. My husband has green, and I have brown! but both of our grandfathers had bright blue eyes. Sometimes if you and your husband carry the same recessive trait for a gene it can show up in your child.

  15. I don't know what eye color my baby is gonna have but I have typical brown eyes and my fiance has hazel. Funny thing he doesn't know anyone in his family that has hazel eyes. So yeah I have heard of it. It just draw of genes.

  16. Yes. my brother has blue eyes, and both of my parents have brown eyes. its gene science.

  17. I have drk brwn eyes, my husband has brown eyes and my daughters eyes went from grey to blue to green.

  18. That's very strange.  The gene for blue (and other light colors- green, hazel, grey) colored eyes is supposed to be recessive while the gene for brown eyes is dominant.  Therefore it's possible for two brown-eyed parents to have a blue-eyed baby if they both had a recessive blue-eyed gene, but not vice-versa, since in order to have blue eyes you cannot have any brown-eyed genes.  Of course, that's a very simplistic explanation and I'm sure the actual genetics are much more complex, but it's certainly quite fascinating.

  19. Both me and my husband have dark brown eyes and noone that we know of in either of our families has blue eyes, but my sons are as blue as they get!  Like piercing, it's wierd!

  20. My son got my color of eyes..hahahaha:D But my sister and her husband both have brown eyes and have 2 kids' with blue eyes.

  21. My mums eyes are green and grey and my dads are blue and grey, but i have blue eyes that are the same shade.

My brothers have wonky eyes too.

Its kind of the same thing.

Its uncommon and to do with maybe you grandparents (or great grandparents e.c.t) and having only one recessive blue eye gene that both you and your husband have that has been randomly composed.

its hard to explain without diagrams and stuff unless you know genetics well.

It is not rare, there is a 1 in 8 chance of this happening if someone in both of your direct descending families has brown eyes. A baby's eyes can however change. If you child has brown eyes (and it can only be brown), they may change. Many babies are first born with brown eyes but within between minutes and weeks they change to blue. Alot like humans. We start to develop as women, but then the Y gene kicks in for men and they turn into men, hence why men have nipples.

  22. Of course, because your genes go back way further than just you and your hubby. My brother and his wife both have brown eyes, but their daughter got my dad's blue eyes.

  23. It impossible for two blue eyed adults to have a brown eyed baby since blue eyes are a recessive gene.  We learned this in basic biology!  To make it more interesting, one of the kids in my class found out she was adopted this way.

Now, the doesn't mean brown eyed couples can't have blue eyed kids.

  24. Of course, the genetics can come from farther back.

I have blue eyes, my husband has green eyes, our son has beautiful chocolate brown eyes.

  25. my husband and I both have brown eyes,my daughter has blue eyes.

  26. It is normally taught that blue eyes are recessive, but eye color is more complex than that.  I found this website.  Hope it helps answer your question.

  27. Did you know that once upon a time brown was the only color? Blue and green were genetic mistakes, and once they made their debut many other color combinations surfaced.

  28. I have heard  that a couple with the same colour eyes can have a baby with diffrent colour eyes. My husband and i have hazel eyes and our little girl has blue eyes its crazy but it can happen

  29. both my parents have dark brown eyes and mine are pale hazel. Brown's supposed to be the dominant one, but i suppose not always!

Me, my hubby and our daughter have the same pale hazel eyes.

  30. i have blue eyes, my husband has brown eyes and our daughter has green eyes
