Hi im doing a home learning course in 'child day care' and i have to design a leaflet for a nursery that I would like to run. I have looked on the internet at loads of other nursery websites and they have basically said what i want to say but i feel like im cheating if i copy them word for word but when i try to re-phrase what they are saying it doesn't sound as good. Would it be wrong to use exact sentences or paragraphs from said websites?

  1. Yes, it would be wrong. Anyway, the whole idea of the exercise, I imagine, is to discover what it is that's important to you personally about childcare. Why don't you print some of the leaflets that appeal to you most, and draw together the sections that you like best and then rephrase them. Good luck :-)

  2. Why dont you get a thersoraus and change some of the wording to sound like your own meaning the same thing. Hope that helps.

  3. Well try and re word them as much as possible, but not copy them exactly, get some good ideas from these websites and try and be as original as possible, theres nothing wrong with using other peoples ideas but probably best not to use exact wording as the tutor will probably notice.  Good luck.

  4. Dont use it work for work, take some of what they say and put hwo you feel together to create a program.  That wasy its more original and you arent copying

  5. it would be wrong to do the whole lot word for word as it would be classed as plaigarism because it is not your own work. you can take phrases or paragraphs though as long as you use them as quotes and reference them (which is where at the end in brackets you state your source) an example could go like:

a well planned environment allows children to learn in their own individual way while giving them a sense of belonging to the community (Bruce, T and Meggitt ,C; 117)

at the end of the leaflet you would provide the bibliography so that you can show where it was from. in this case it was:

Bruce,T and Meggit,C (2006). childcare and education. london. Hodder Arnold.

as for the rest of the leaflet i find it helps me when writing if i do a spider diagram of the different areas i want to cover. that way i get the information i need but it can be reworded in my own words.

hope this helps and good luck with the leaflet. i'm sure you'll do fine
