  1. Theres not an exact cost per year, as it depens on the horses needs and what differant suppliments they need, and weather your horse falls in through the year. Also some months you pay more than others for feed, shoeing cost of straw/shavings or pay for the field. So there's not relly an exact price a year.

  2. Well, horses are quite expensive. With the feed cost rising like they are now, it will be a pricey pet. I range around $1500-$2000 a year. With saddles, feed, hay, bits, bridels, brushes, treats and some other things here and there, it all adds up. But in the long run i think its worth every penny of it.

  3. I think you best bet would be searching the web because just boarding in VA where I live it can range from 155.00-1,250.00 It depends what you want.. You need to narrow your search on the web their is a sight  that list most of boarding stables. www.polocenter.com call them take lessons and possibly lease a horse from them that will give you the experiance and it will answer your questions and if its not your thing take you dont lease it anymore..

  4. $1200

  5. It costs my friend $3000 a year for aggistment, trimming, worming, feed, fuel etc for a horse in full work this is in QLD

GOOD LUCK it depends what you do with your horse

  6. I've recently purchased a horse myself. There are so many things I had to pay for; stuff I had no idea about, even though I had previously leased. Here's a rough estimate:

THE HORSE: horse prices are so varying. it really depends on your ability/level of experience - young, untrained horses can be bought for anything from 100 dollars to 5,000 dollars, providing they don't have the best of bloodlines. older horses, in their late teens, can also be purchased for similar pricing. for a decent aged, well handled horse with average bloodlines, you're probably look at something between 5000 and 10,000 dollars. Therefore, we'll make the approximate cost of a horse: 5,000. (this seems like a large sum in comparison with other estimates, but i found that the prices are indeed quite shocking and very high)

AGIST/BOARD: boarding is another price that depends on location and quality of the barn. the more expensive the barn, the less work you'll have to do - price places also offer better locations, larger stalls, and nicer riding arenas. where i live (in new york) the price of board ranges between $200/month and $900/month. We'll make your approximate cost $400/month - the most common of prices here in new york.

VET- for a check up, vetting is usually about $50. however, in the more likely event of a visit due to an illness, the prices are again drastically ranging. provide your horse stays healthy, however, you are probably looking at $200 worth of check ups a year.

WORMING - about $20 for wormer, which you need at least twice a year - $40

SHOEING/FARRIER - for each NEW shoe you put on your horse, you are looking at a minimum of $50. however, usually the farrier does a quick, $40 check up every 6-8 weeks. If your horse doesn't have shoes, you'll want these check-ups more often - every 4-6 weeks. Therefore, a horse WITH shoes will cost about $640/year (two new sets of shoes, check-up every 8 weeks), and a horse WITHOUT shoes will be about $320/year (check-up every 6 weeks).

With these estimates in mind, you will probably pay something between:

    $920 (without shoes) - $1240 (with shoes) a year

of course, this is the cost per year NOT INCLUDING whatever shoes your horse may lose and whatever injuries or illnesses they may suffer from.

your best bet, however, is to look around at stables - call around, and find out what the best pricing is to board/agist the horse at the stables in your area. you can also look at how much it cost to lease a horse, remembering that you were only paying half of vet/shoeing bills and worming, and you may or may not have been full-leasing (looking after the horse 7 days a week), so make sure you keep that in mind.

i hope that this has helped you, and best of luck!!

  7. Well there isn't a real estimate. But i have seven and one on the way. and it takes me about 10,000$ just for feed. total of everything is about 35,000$ it is about 5 thousand for one horse. but you are better off getting a gelding because when a mare comes in season then a stallion will find a way to breed her.

  8. Where I live boarding costs $500 a month so $6000 a year. THen adding on the feed and trimming, etc I would say the total is $10,000 a year. Not including 1 time costs. This is only for boarding in a city area where barns are REALLY hard to find. SOunds like it's cheaper in other places.
