Q3. It is essential that Police Community Support Officers act without being told and strive to do an excellent job.

Tell us about a situation when you have acted without being told, gone beyond what was expected of you and even gone further than others would have done

  1. Wow! That is a very difficult question, bearing in mind the qualifications needed to be a PCSO. However, it's essential that your answer is true. People here could advise you on a draft answer but they cannot answer it for you. Discuss the question with your parents, brothers, sisters and close friends. It's not wrong to discuss how you will answer the question but only you know things you've done that have made you feel proud of what you've done.

  2. Here are some fictional examples which may spur on a memory of your own.

I saw a minor collision near my home and once the drivers had gone, I noticed broken glass and fluid on the road. I asked a friend to warn traffic while I swept away the glass and put sand on the fluid, before making a call to the council who quickly came and did a full repair.

Outside my office, I noticed that our postman was sitting on the ground. I went out to him and found that he had become unwell, so while he rested in our tea room, I called an ambulance and his employer to let them know.

In my street, many think that burglars are taking notice of whether rubbish bins are being put away after the dustman has called, and using this info to decide on targets.  I always put my neighbours bin away while he is at work - and he does the same for me.

I noticed a small unacccompanied dog in the park on 2 consecutive days. Some friends and I worked together to attract him and return him to the address on his tag - even though he made my car filthy!

Hope these get you thinking !

    good luck

  3. They just mean using your common sense. Stopping kids breaking a fence or trampling flowers or something like that. Not sure how you could turn that into an excellet job. Forseeing and averting a problem at work maybe
