  1. Come on Sam, you're 13!

Okay, I actually grow up in the South Burnett area and got lots of odd jobs at your age. There is plenty of work for someone that's willing to do it.

Make sure you have your parent’s permission for this and BRING A FRIEND!!!

So, you and your friend go door knocking for a job. Aim at older people's places. (That's the secret) tell them you're keen to do anything, like mow the lawn, clean the garden or the gutters, paint a fence.

I got about $5 an hour at your age and lots of tea, biscuits and cakes.

If you can travel, the money goes up a bit out of town. Harvest season for some of the crops is soon for some of the farms. Ask some of the farmers if they need a farmhand or if they can offer your work on the farm.

If not, ask if you can get some cow manure to sell. Take it back into town, knock on doors and say you'll work the manure into their gardens.

Lastly, (only if you’re desperate) try this idea...

Buy something like a nice $10 voucher from Daisy Dell Bakery. Buy a raffle ticket booket and sell the tickets for 50cents each. (A booklet of 100 tickets at 50 cents will get you $50 minus initial outlay of the products).

Go door knocking (oh BRING A FRIEND) and say your raising money for your school trip. Make sure you visit the businesses first!

    You need:

    The person's name

    Address

    and phone number

Draw the raffle and give the winner the prize and maybe advertise the winner in the South Burnett Times classified.

Warning, the last idea could be an ethical issue, you need to have a clear understanding why you need money (and not, just cause).

By the way, run all these ideas by your parents first.

Good luck and BE SAFE about it.
