  1. Industrial design (commonly referred to as ID within designers) is the study of product design, essentially.  This deals with 2-D CAD drawings for die-lines or 3D objects, 3D models for production, and any 3D product.  Sketching skills are a must - you can slip by with nice sketching skills, but if you can't draw at all you basically get no where.

IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America) will give you a great definition and some more info.  They are pretty much in the know of everything as they are the organization for ID in the US pretty much.

Lots of information and ideas - all focused about ID. Also check out coroflot.com

Top ID schools in the US:

Art Center in CA (artcenter.edu), DAAP at University of Cincinnati in OH (daap.uc.edu), Pratt in NY (pratt.edu), The Design School at OSU in OH, (osu.edu), and Carnegie Mellon in PA.  Of course RISD too.

The top three are in order (Pratt got 3rd in 2006 , then OSU got 3rd in 2007 according to a design magazine), the others I just know of.

I personally chose DAAP because it's cheap (even more so for me - it's in state) and it's second best.  It's also got a co-operative education program (paid internships with well known and great companies) that is killer - basically it's main catch.

  2. well.

I would like to talk about industrial design of pressure vessels.

An industrial design of pressure vessels is a package of calculation and instruction which sets the physical dimensions of an object which satisfies the customer requirements. There are several international codes and standards which are discribing the methedology of design, e.g. ASME, BS, DIN etc.

I hope this answer will satisfy the question owner.

  3. An industrial design is the ornamental or aesthetic aspect of an article. The design may consist of three-dimensional features, such as the shape or surface of an article, or of two-dimensional features, such as patterns, lines or color.

Industrial designs are applied to a wide variety of products of industry and handicraft: from technical and medical instruments to watches, jewelry, and other luxury items; from housewares and electrical appliances to vehicles and architectural structures; from textile designs to leisure goods.
