  1. First of all, is his cage clean? Does he have access to fresh clean water? Are you using cedar shavings, or something else?   It is imperative that your hamster's cage be cleaned every other day!!!!   That means dumping out the old shavings , washing the tray with hot soapy water, rinsing well, and drying it thoroughly.     And I'd still take him to the vet!!! Pronto!

  2. Abby is right. Hamsters usually keep themselves clean so he shouldn't be greasy and he shouldn't be smelly.

Check his nest and make sure he hasn't kept some food that has started to rot. Take away any food that you think may be old but don't take all his food store away or he will get very insecure.

Take away any bedding that looks soiled and put some fresh bedding in his cage so that he can rebuild his nest. Don't take all the nest bedding away.

Remove all the old sawdust from the cage and replace it.

If he doesn't clean himself up and stop smelling there is something wrong and he needs to see an expert. Either the vet or the breeder you got him from.

  3. take him to a small animal vet

  4. what I did with my hamster when it smelled is I put just alittle bit of water in the bathroom sink and just rinse him off but dont drown him        =D
