Im trying to get my camera to be able to plug into my computer so that i can edit. But the only in/out ports that the camera has, is a dv and an s port. Most of the connector cords are dv to fire wire. But i dont have a fire wire port, i need the port to be able to plug in through a USB port. I thought that maybe i could find a fire wire usb port adapter to connect through, but have had no luck. If you could find a websight that sells what type of adapter or whatever it would take to be able to have my video camera to connect to my computer, that would be great, Thank you

  1. The ZR10 is a miniDV based camcorder. You need to use the camcorder's DV port and connect it to your computer's Firewire 400 port - add one if you don't have one - and use a Firewire cable.

As you have found, USB will not work.

This assumes your computer has an available PCI slot (desktop/tower) or an available PCMCIA slot (laptop).

Be advised that video uses a lot of hard drive space when imported - about 13-14 gig (gig, not meg) of hard drive space per hour of imported video. You will likely need another drive (250 gig minimum) just for video project files.
