Hi i have an essay to write for my AP english class and im stuck on what to do. the prompt is- in 1984, according to the propaganda of Big Brother and the Inner Party, "War is peace, freedom is slavery, Ignorance is Strenght." Using the concepts of doublethink and newsspeak, Orwell illustrates how "governments" manipulate language in order to control their subjects. Consider this position carefully. Then, in a well-constructed essay which uses support from your, experience, your observations, your reading or history, develop your own position on his claim.

Am i supposed to write about the three laws of oceania or am i supposed to write about how governments manipulate language today and in the past? Thanks!

The 'war on terror' and the 'definition of "is"' should be mentioned, as they are two of the bigger examples in the past 10 years.
