  1. You could use an External Hardrive to save all the data you want to move to you're new Vista PC and then just connect it up and transfer the programmes to the different Hardrive places you want.

Or you could use a pen Drive,..or save it to a Disc.

On XP you can follow a Data Transfer Wizard where you can move files also.

    Here's what you do:

    Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Files Settings & Transfer Wizard.

It also tells you about the type of lead you can use to move the data to you're new PC.

    Here's the link for you:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...

  2. You must use a portable hard disc drive

  3. flash drive, you should be able to convert everything to vista when u upload it.

  4. memory stick

  5. I used a thing called the Tornado to transfer data to Vista - no problems with this except you have to buy one.

Other methods I used were USB memory sticks - some data cables don't work - but don't ask me now as to which ones I tried - too long ago and can't remember. One did work but three failed for some reason.

Printers - Most companies have now upgraded their driver software - the only company I have had trouble with was Lexmark - even though they say their drivers now work with Vista - I could never get the d**n thing to work properly - I ended up having three printers from Lexmark (sent out free) and none of the buggers worked - so I binned them and got a HP - which works brilliantly.

    Hope that helps a little

  6. there is a cable that looks like a USB device to both computers that allows trasnfer to and form different PC's

anothe rapproach is to consder buying an external computer case and put the XP disk drive into the case and plug the external case into the Vista PC

or of course you could open up both computers, remove the drive from the XP and plug it into the Vista PC. make sure you change the jumper on the back of the XP drive so its seen as a slave.

  7. Whoever told you that data transfer cables will not work is about to be sectioned! Get a USB data transfer cable and use it to link the two PCs. Laplink cables are the best. When you log on to Vista, you should get the Welcome Centre. If not, search for it in the search bar at the top of the control panel. In there should be an option to transfer data from your old computer. Click on it and follow instructions.

  8. If they are both on the same network then create a shared folder on the old machine and connect to it via the new. Applications may need to be installed from installation files, but might work if just copied across in the say way.

  9. how about a  memory stick

  10. Transferring data is easy, just use an external hard drive or memory stick. As for applications, you should get something called Laplink. It is a cable and software package which transfers your programs over.
