Hi i have just brought a new computer for my school work as i am just starting my g.c.s.e coursework ?

Question

also i use my computer for music and other media keep allot of music and videos so i need a computer to keep up with work and things like that

the computer currently has 128mb of ram and a 20gb hard drive but might be upgraded to 40gb by the seller i am looking for a upgrade of ram and a hard drive upgrade as the computer i think will be very slow and sluggish ( an i right ) but ...... i do not know what to upgrade it to ... could you recommend an amount of mb on the ram and how much memory i would need on the hard drive to have good and smooth and quick performance on my pc ?????

oh and i use the internet and msn a lot ( and i mean a lot )

hi, first RAM is for speed and how many things that can run at once, whereas hard drive is wat it stores, im actualy thinkin o geting an old com frm my friend with hardly any ram etc but for coursework,I also hav a family computer which has 3gb ram but 1 or 2 wud do, and it has 500gb hard drive but it cost only 15 pounds to upgrade from 240 to 500.40 wud do fine but if u av a fam computer u cud use it for music. And Msn works on my psp  which has 64 ram so... O good luck wit ur gcses
