hi my two baby rabbits are a bonded pair and they are netherland dwarfs/dwarf lops*they look and act completly like netherland dwarfs exept they have huge ears*they dont lop though*.but my question is this

rabbits cant be neutered/spayed until the are 5 months old*mine are just under 3 months*we have booked them in to be neutered and spayed but...is there any chance they my female can get pregnant before 5 months?i honestly dont mind if she does but i am getting them done because they will be happier as a pair with it done.

so can a rabbit get pregnant before 5 months when they are allowed to be spayed and neutered?

thanx

  1. Rabbits, especially small breed rabbits, can become pregnant as early as 12 weeks. This is bad idea as the doe's body is not mature enough to carry kits to full term. She can also end up dying because of the stress to her body.

These are obviously mixed breed rabbits from the description. Please do not breed them as there are too many rabbits that are unwanted in the world.

  2. no they arnt sexually active at that age

these are rare instances, besides the male is defiantly not active till at least 6 months

  3. it can happen

usually female rabbit sexually mature at 4-5 months, males take a bit longer sometimes dont mature untill 7 - 8 months

  4. Rabbits sexually mature 3-4 months.

And therefore can be spayed at 4 months.

However, most vets will wait 5-6 months.
