Hi i just bought a mercury 70 hp black with blue stripes serial no 6164320. does any one know what year it is?

i removed the cowling and on the back of motor it said65 hp??

I would place the motor as late 70s or early 80s. The blue stripe is older than the red striper. I owned a 7 1/2 hp blue striper and it was an 82 model. Good motor but too heavy for my me to be lifting.

The size 65 should not matter for they can tend to make faster/bigger size motors with the same block.
