Hi i need help , my jeep wont start it acts like it wants to but then gives me the code po462 ?

when i looked up the code it says fuel level sensor circuit low input so what exactly does that mean? we put more fuel in it but it still wont start its a 2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo thanks in advance

  1. well how much fuel doe it have in it i have to ask... 5 gal 10 gal ?.. you try a new fuel filter  


  2. Seems to me that low input could mean that the signal is not strong, maybe a electronic failure. Probably going to need to take this one into a shop.

  3. p0462 fuel level sensor circuit high input.

    OR p0461 fuel level sensor circuit low input .

    either way it tells me that you have either a short on the power side to ground (in the 461) or or to power on the feed side (462) OR you have a problem with the voltage regulator in the cpu that supplies that circuit. on a 2000, you might go back and look into a warranty or see if there was a recall on that problem.

    Fuel Level Sending Unit Condition

       – Poor electrical connection at the fuel level sending unit

    Probable Cause[s]

       1. Failed fuel level sending unit

    I'm guessing your fuel pressure might be low too. At least I'd have it checked. Or just go ahead and replace the unit. I think the pump and sender might be combined on that one.
