  1. hi, this hotel is one of the best in cayo coco, every year there are lots of people getting married there, the food is really good and also the satff that worked there are very friendly.

  2. i am getting married in cuba next year the melia cayo guillermo resort is beautifal. check it out and let us know what you think good luck.

  3. havent been there.. but hotel melia varadero in varadero cuba is top choice as i've stayed here for 3 weeks but travelled the island...

  4. Yes my hubby and I spend the most fantastic fortnight there at Easter 2006, I am pretty fussy about where I stay and I just loved the place, do not take any notice of the reviews, I did and nearly had a nervous breakdown worrying about our holiday in Cuba, thank god I realised within 24 hours that those reviews were a load of tosh, okay while we were there we had some people whinging that the food was poor, but I can honestly say hand on heart we had absolutely no problem with any of the food there whatsoever, it was good healthy wholesome food, not the place to go if you live off McDonald's or fish and chips as there are no fast food joints there at all, the people who were whinging were fast food junkies and couldn't hack normal food, the Oasis Playa Coco is a lovely hotel, the staff are fantastic and will do anything to make your holiday even better for you, Felix the guy down the beach saves loungers for you and carries them to wherever you want them placing, Elvis the guy in charge of the boats and snorkel gear is a right laugh and will take you down to the Melia for a Lobster and sunset cruise for a few pesos, the beach there is to die for, white sand that feels like talc between your toes and the ocean is bathtub warm, take bread and banana into the ocean with you and just watch the fish come swarming round to eat it, have your camera ready for that as its just amazing, I would honestly recommend the Oasis Playa to anyone, we would go back there in a flash, a lovely hotel with lovely staff.

  6. Hi Sarah J. I also haven't been to Oasis Playa Coco, but I have definitely been to Cayo Coco. It is completely gorgeous...the whole beach strip is beautiful with soft powdery white sand and clear water with different shades of turquoise.

When I go to Cayo Coco I stay at Hotel Tryp Cayo Coco and just love it there. It is a beautiful resort with excellent food, accomodations, activities, service (not to mention the fantastic staff).

It also has a very romantic setting. But many have gone to NH Krystal because some rooms are out on the lagoon. Also Meliá Cayo Coco is well-known there and popular for honeymoon. It is an adult-only resort and is 5*.

But others as well have enjoyed Tryp Cayo Coco better than these resorts as well. It all depends on what you're looking for and just how relaxed you are. You'll enjoy yourself in either of these places I'm sure.

However, I checked again the site Oasis Playa Hotel site and it is also a 4*. You will always find mixed reviews from people but don't forget many opinions are subjective. A lot who've had 'issues' with places depended a lot on their attitude and their approach.

Cuba is an amazing place and Cubans will bend over backwards to help you feel welcome and at home.

If this is the resort you want to stay at, it seems to be a nice place. Just remember though, being on the beach in that area, I recommend that you book a room on at least the 2nd or 3rd floor. It is a tropical place and the humidity and moisture can be high. So sometimes the first floors have been known to be damp (maybe even wet)....and may be kind of 'musty'.

Oh and as for Steve W.....Sarah J don't listen to that. That is the attitude I'm exactly speaking about. It's disrespectful and rude. Cubans are not prejudice...just take a look at the various backgrounds that make up the Cuban population! They love people from everywhere. I can't stand attitudes like this. This is a very 'uninformed, ignorant' comment. If Steve W did actually go to Cuba, then perhaps he didn't get treated well because of that rank attitude...and frankly with that mentality, you won't get treated well ANYWHERE in the world.

Go and have a fabulous time in Cuba, Sarah J.

  7. Cuba is just one big bad review. If you are white, you might want to fill out your will before you go because there is a chance you wont reutrn.

  8. go to melia hotel in cayo guilermo its awsome

  9. Sorry sarah J  I haven't been't been to that resort although I did stay at Blau Colonial Cayo Coco but I had to clarify for your information, Stevie W.  knows  absolutely nothing about which he speaks, just another wet blanket who tries to ruin other's enjoyment.    Please remember too reviews are a subjective thing, what some like others find  disagreeable.  when I check trip advisor they seem not bad.   Should you decide against that resort my suggestion would be Sol Melia Luna y Mares, Holguin, I've been there four times and it  would be ideal for your honeymoon, lots to do, great beach, food, staff and gets very good reviews.  Check my links below for that resort.  Whatever you decide, go and enjoy Cuba, it's wonderful.
