Hi i wanted to know how would you go about becoming an economist also what places recruit economists???

im currently a 1st year economics student and would love to know where i could get some work experince with an econmist

  1. I would check with my professors, department head, and career placement center if your school has one. They can help you land a job. There aren't a ton of econ jobs out there, so finding one as a 1st year student might be hard if you go it alone. But your university probably has companies that they partner with, making positions more readily accessible to you. You may even be able to find a job in the economics department at your school.   2. government agencies and large companies hire economists.  also brokerage houses and any other business interests that need good and specific economic advice or guidance.  Think tanks and consultancy firms also hire economists.    You pretty much have to be a really great student to score the positions in the think tanks and brokerage houses.   An above average student can get some of the government jobs.  The rest of the econ majors often find work in related fields.
