  1. Hi, the injections your doctor told you about are corticosteroids.  They decrease inflammation which relieves pressure on the median nerve. the injections are more effective than the oral corticosteroids. Surgery is a last option if the injections don't work.  The doctor will cut the ligament which is pressing on your nerve.  Experiment with different techniques and see what works for you.  Among the things you can do are :

    Applying heat

    Massage

    Water therapy

    Chiropractic manipulation

You might want to try wearing a splint at night while sleeping.  And depending on your job, take quick breaks (hands) and do hand stretching. But hopefully the injections will help.  Good luck.

  2. The injections and surgery do not work.  The pain will be there forever, you just need to work on tolerance. Once they cut the tendon open they is nothing else that they can do and the swelling will increase and not go away.
