  1. yes, i mean if your one of the smallest girls on the squad then you would most likely be a flyer, but in my past expieriences our flyer was usually around 4' to 4'2 and usually weighed about 100-108lbs..

((they usually look for short girls because they flip and spin faster. plus weight needs to be light enough for your base supports to hold))

but if you really want this position then talk to your coach, maybe yall could work something out.

    goodluck.

    hope i helped.

  2. it all depends on your circumstances. If you are on a team with strong bases or on a team that needs flyers you probably can. Flying isn't only about weight and height. How you hold yourself up and your skill level plays a larger part than most people think. Work on a balance board for balance and stretch. If there are two flyers, one is super super tiny and one is average size, but the av. size one has a bow and arrow or a really nice heel stretch, chances are she will fly.

  3. yes it is possible; weight doesn't necessarily matter when it comes to flying, how well you fly does though. good luck with everything!

  4. umm not really,

unless you have really strong bases,

it depends on youre age and group.

  5. yes the girl i lift is 130 but not if your young if your in high school then yea go for it

  6. Yes, you can fly. Depending on your age and squad, it would work best if your bases were strong and bigger than you. However, I know plenty of flyers who were pretty solid girls and not the tiniest girls out there. A lot of squads have flyers who are actually bigger (taller or weighs more) than the bases. In reality, a lot of good flyers aren't the smallest girls.

Flying isn't just about how much you weigh, but about what you do with that weight. If a girl weighs 90lbs and doesn't pull any of her own weight and just sits there and allows her bases to do all of the work, she's not a good flyer. It will be hard to lift her and it'll seem like she weighs several times her own weight. So, if you really do a lot of the work (like keeping your weight in your arms and pushing off when loading and pulling yourself up when in the air) you will be as easy (or easier!) to lift as a teeny tiny girl.

Size doesn't make a flyer. Ability, strength, and control do.

I was a cheerleader for 14 years, including at the collegiate level. I was also a cheer instructor for a cheer company and a coach. So, I've seen flyers of every size and shape. Good luck!!

  7. at 5 ft 4 inches you could still fly...even at 118 pounds. my sister and i are both high school cheerleaders and we both fly. there are tons of other girls out there who are heavier than you and still fly. it's a lot of fun, and honestly, whoever bases you should be able to lift you. you aren't heavy for your height by any standards. we think that if you want to be a flyer in cheerleading you should. good luck.
