  1. Does homeschooling skip spellling?

  2. Try to do it in another collage, just hand in coursework when you need and then come in for the exam its not like you'll go there everyday?

  3. Well done for trying to help yourself and ignore the jerks.  OK I'm Home Educ my 15 yr old GCSE's.  Get in touch with Connexions.  They have been great help for us and my daughter has an hour with her every week just for a chat to see hows she getting on and offer support.  We could not have got through this last 6 months without her.

You can also call your County (Somerset) Education Service, from Yell.com  if you had a school until a few years ago then ask for the officer that is associated with that school.

Call Edexcel in London or the AQA exam board.  They should know.

  4. You can do them online. The national extension college is a good site.

  5. You could check with your local adult education centre, if there is one nearby,(phone the local council or call in the library for this info). They may have a facility for taking the course, or be able to refer you.

  6. go to a school

  7. Hi i am home schooled i dont no the answer to that but dont go bad to public school those jerks are stupid they dont no what they are talking about.

  8. Hi

My daughter is 15 and home ed and also wanted to do art gcse, but we havent found anything, she goes to college to do dressmaking but will do fashion and design in september though we do ahve to pay about £5000 due to her underage of 16!!

She still wants to do Art so we will continue looking dont give up!

  9. You should probably just get in touch with all of hte local high schools which are near to you. Just write a polite letter (or have your teacher do it) and explain your situation. I'm sure they'll accomodate you. At my school we quite often had kids we didn't know in the exam hall who'd come from outside to take the exam. This is perfectly acceptable under GCSE rules. You should probably do it asap because there are registration deadliens etc. and I think art is earlier than most exams. Good luck

  10. I agree with Hannah - try doing an IGCSE.  Cambridge International Examinations have an Art & Design Syllabus, see:

    http://www.cie.org.uk/qualifications/aca...

Also on this page is a link to suggested resources.

You can sit the exam at Sidcot School, Winscombe

    http://www.cie.org.uk/profiles/parents/u...

(My daughter will probably be doing her IGCSE Physics there as I live in Glo'shire so Sidcot is nearest centre)

Edexcel also do IGCSEs but they cannot provide a list of centres that accept private candidates.

    Good luck!

As you are home educated, I presume you do not require tuition as such.  It is a nightmare trying to find a FE college to accept students under 16 for exams.  I wonder why they are so biased  ?

    Best of luck

  11. Maybe start with http://www.somersetcolleges.ac.uk

Seems there are colleges (if maybe not your closest college) in Somerset that offer Art @ AS level, A level, National Diploma, BTEC, First diploma etc. Is there any particular reason why it should have to be at GCSE level? You could go straight to AS or A Levels without doing a GCSE first.

Another suggestion would be that you check with your local Adult Education Service.

Alternatively you could study independently for the Art GCSE at home and sit the exams/get your course work assessed as an independent candidate. You can get a copy of the syllabus from the relevant exam board. You would have to find someone to oversee and assess your coursework; someone authorised to do so by the exam board but if there is a school near you that does the same syllabus, the school's art teacher may be willing to help you out with that.

Otherwise try searching online for distance education providers who offer the GCSE Art.

You might also consider checking to see if there is an IGCSE (International GCSE) in Art - many homeschoolers in England prefer to do IGCSEs, rather than GCSEs, as there is generally very little, if any, assessed coursework required for the IGCSE. They make far more use of exams. You would still need to organise an exam centre for yourself (start by checking with local schools) but you would not have all the hassle and expense of having to find someone to oversee and assess your coursework.

  12. Whoever is "home-schooling" you should know. If they don't, then they are failing to educate you properly and you should just go back to mainstream school.

It's not up to you to find this stuff out. It's up to the (ir)responsible adult who's "taking care" of you.
