heyy ye im 13 and i really dont want the world to end ive got my life ahead of me and i hate the thoug of it ending is it really going to end ?and the people doing this why are they doing it if they no the world will end?

No and No.

All these stories about 2012 are lies and do not survive elementary fact checking on REAL astronomy and ancient history sites. Anyone who says something big will happen on 21 December 2012 is a fraud or a fool.  No exceptions.

As for the large hadron collider, cosmic ray particles with higher energies than it can produce strike the Earth fairly regularly.  We are still here. In the very unlikely event that it produces a black hole, the mass of the thing will be tiny.  The life of a black hole is proportional to the cube of it's mass.  It would evaporate in picoseconds, before it had the chance to swallow one atom.

Well, you're getting a couple of urban legends mixed up.

The date given in the stupid documentary on the History Channel, (supposedly predicted by ancient Mayans) was Dec 21, 2012.  The September 10 thing is this year as they fire up the LHC.

All claims suggesting doom for either of these dates are bogus.  They have all been investigated and they are all as much bunk as the countless predictions of the end of the world in the past have turned out to be.

The only reason to be scared is that there are so many people in our supposedly enlightened culture who actually believe in this garbage and don't even bother to look up the relevant facts.  You're 13, so you shouldn't be criticized too harshly.  You trust in certain sources of information and have not learned yet that things like the Internet and the History Channel cannot be trusted for accurate information.  You have to know what kinds of sources are reliable.  Virtually everybody who believes in this nonsense suffers from that inability.

Not to worry.  There is NO evidence that anything catastrophic is going to happen on ANY particular date in the future.  Have a nice day, nice year, nice graduation from high school, and nice full life.

Only thing is, Michel, that the Cuban missile crisis WAS real and it did hold a HIGH potential for nuclear holocaust.  Did you all ever see "Crimson Tide?"  It came about that close.  Of course, I'm in complete agreement with you on all these other *prophetic* doomsday stories.  Good post.

Listen to my advice, friend: The internet is a fantastic way to communicate worldwide but it is also a dangerous thing if you are not 'street-wise.' You know that there are nasty people who try to put virus on your computer. Some other nasty people try to put scary ideas on your head. Please ignore them.

Nah, the world, as you and I know it, will not "end" at either time----1st the collider will not produce a black hole with enough mass to actually do any harm.  These things happen all the time in space, we (all the astrobiologists, astrophysicists, astronomers, and other scientists) would know already, via radio, and/or optical astronomical criteria, if there were an actual problem, and would have already let us know.  So if you hear something from NASA, listen, otherwise, don't believe hardly anything you hear and nothing you read!  And I mean that!

Now, about 2012, unless you're speaking of the "sun spot" that's supposed to release a space tornado on, or about that time, then "No"!  Once again, you have nothing to look forward to in the effect that things of that nature is going to happen!  There is supposed to be some "sun spot" activity at that time, but the largest thing to happen with it is the loss of some technology, ie, cell phone, computer data (yeah, another Y2K "thing"), credit card data, etc., etc.  

So, you can relax, there's nothing gonna' happen on either of those dates.  Exactly, I agree with you, "the people doing this, why are they doing it, if they know the world will end?"  "They" wouldn't!  Not in "today" world!

A popular one was 06/06/06 (June 6th 2006) Where still alive..

I've done a lot of research on this question. The Mayas and other people predicted that the world would come to an end in 2012. Some say it will be a time for a new Era where some people get to live and others.. don't.

Basically, don't believe everything you hear. The World won't come to an end in 2012, so don't be scared.

Probably not.

Ever since the 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenario did not pan out, the scare mongers have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

Fear not for 2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' or the 'man of lawlessness' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. The world WILL end someday.

We don't know when.

We don't know how.

NO ONE can predict the future. No one knows the date the world is going to end -- not even Jesus -- becasue God hasn't made up His mind yet.

ALL -- every last one -- of the "World Is Going To End" predicitions is based on something stupid.  And they put those stories out there to scare little children and those poeple who are too unintelligent  to know better. Only God has the real answer, and when He makes the decision, He will take care of thsoe who beleive in Him so that they won;t be hurt.
