  1. Keep it small to start with.  Try a YZ125(2 stroke).  It may look big and intimidating but its not to bad.  You can have a mechanic adjust the suspension to fit you, on any bike.  That will be money well spent.  As a generalzation a  yamaha has a smoother powerband than a honda or suzuki, which makes it a little better suited for a beginner. But you really can't go wrong with any of the major brands. A 125 2-stroke will offer you plenty of power to grow into as your riding skills progress.  I know making premix can be a major pain but that bike will be the best for you.  It is designed for track riding and you won't outgrow its power in a year or two.

Try Dirtrider.com or TransworldMX.com to list a couple.  They will have bike test reports on their websites.  The bikes are ridden by people of different skill levels and body styles and then reveiwed. They have reveiws on gear as well.  Also visit some local bike shops.  Some will let you test ride bikes on location.  Don't be afraid to ask.  Some of the guys in bike shops look scary with the tatoos and peircings but as soon as they learn you want to ride you will be surprised at how cool they are. (not a dig on tated shop workers. You guys are my heros) They will hook you up, just take care of them.

Take your time finding the right bike.  If you get the wrong one you will sell it and be done in less than a year, get the right one and you will be hooked for life.

Remember, As long as you are having fun who gives a d**n how fast you are going!

  2. get a honda crf150r or a honda cr80r they are both fun bikes they are fast good for jumps and tracks

  3. Get a 125 of any brand or theres the honda crf150r and the crf 230 those are really good beginner bikes

  4. a great bike would be a honda, i would recomend a crf 230 or 150. the 230 has much more low end power and some mid too. they are both about the same height 34" so it is really a matter of how much power you want.
