  1. check out this site it has a whole bunch of things you need :

    http://hubpages.com/hub/ball_pythons

    Ball Python Set Up

    Snake Substrate

    Snake Decor

    Lighting

    Heating

    Humidity

    Ball Python Diet

  2. A nice sized cage, one foot by three foot is usually good for years. Newspaper works as a cheap substrate for the bottom. You want two thermometers, one for the hot side and one for the cool side, and a humidity gauge. Either a heating pad for the bottom or a heat lamp for the top for the warm side. If you have both you could make it too hot. You never want to use a heat rock, though. They're famous for burning snakes.

The snake will need a couple of hides, one for the warm side and one for the cool side. You also need a water bowl.

Also, you should probably decide right away whether to feed it fresh dead, live, or frozen mice. If you feed it live, never leave the room while the mouse is alive, and be warned that your snake might become more aggressive. (I'm going through that right now with my ball python.)  And once you start with fresh dead or live, it's hard to switch to frozen.

Make sure you're ready to have the snake for a long, long time before you get it. They can live for well over 20 years, so if there is any chance that wanting one is a phase, you probably should wait.

  3. Here is a list of things

    Tank 20 gallon long.

A hide like a half a log or plastic cave.

A water dish large enough for the snake to soak in.

Some bedding this could be aspen snake bedding ,coconut bark, newspaper,or reptile carpet.

    Thermometer and Hydrometer

A heat source such as a heat lamp or heat pad to provide a heat gradient in the cage one cool side one warm side.

And a book about ball pythons

These are the basics if you want a bigger terrarium, decorations, multiple hides, terrarium backgrounds it's whatever works best for you and your snake in the end, And if this is your first snake everything is not going to work perfectly your going to have to learn from trail and error  with things like temperature, hide placement and general care for your snake good luck I hope this helps.

  4. Well like most any reptile you will need a dome light for heat with about a 15 watt bulb a hide for the snake this could be store bought or sometype of tupperware with a whole cut in the side and a water dish big enough for him to soak in but heavy enough it wont tip over. And as for substrate there are a few different options but I think newspaper is the best its easy to change out and much cheaper than anything else and maybe a branch for climbing on but this is optional. And that should be it all this will get you started and keep your ball comfy for a long time.

  5. heating

    rock for shedding

    shelter

    plenty of mice

    terrarium 25gal

    water dish

  6. here are 2 of my 4 set ups along with my 1 month old baby's:

    2 year old:

    55 gallon tank

    aspen bedding

2 heat lamps (1 red and 1 blue bulb)

    1 heat pad

    water dish

    2 hides

    log

    2 balls, 5 and 7 yrs:

    125 gallon tank

    aspen bedding

    1 heat lamp (red bulb)

    2 heat pads

    big water dish

    log

    my '08 spider hatchling:

    10 gallon tank

    aspen bedding

2 small heat lamps (red and blue)

    1 small heat pad

    water dish

    log

    stump

babies need more enclosed habitats. too much open space can stress them out. so use fake leaves or something to crowd up his place.

    good luck!
