You should check out www.lonelyplanet.com they have great suggestions and give a pretty good estimate for costs. Also www.xe.com will give you the most up to date currency exchange rates for the world. Also, if you're trying to save money have you thought of staying at a hostel? Takes a bit of an adventurous personality but you can meet some interesting people. Good luck and have fun in your travels.

Try hostelworld.com for accommodation. Also, look into Bed & Breakfasts, they can be quite good, there are a number of them near Connolly Station, which is right beside the city centre. There are also hostels and budget hotels.

Dublin is expensive - especially if you go out to dinner and drink a lot. Taxis are also expensive, and buses are also a lot more than they used to be, but there is the LUAS, which is a tram system, and it's quite new. So bring lots of money for food and drink, and a little more to see shows or go to the cinema and that, and going to some of the more distant parts of the city (a trip around Dublin Bay on the DART is quite nice). If you're planning on going shopping while you're there, bring your Visa or Mastercard.

any hotel in the temple bar area is ok and save a fortune in taxis. it is a little expensive so be prepared but if you live in london it compares very well if you dont live in london it will be shock to your pocket

Dublin is quite expensive but a lovely city to visit! Thers a few nice hotels including jurys inn and westbury hotel. Aston hotel is very central.  Thers lots to do and i recommend the guiness factory (as the view from the top after the tour is amazing). Also visit Temple bar which is the liveliest part of the city, Kilmainham Gaol , Dublin castle, st.stephens green. dublin zoo and croke park GAA. You can access most of these visits on the hop on hop off city sightseeing bus.  theres lots of public transport to and around the city, especially from dublin airport.  Dublin is a fantastic city so enjoy every minute!

If you follow some of the avice of some of the people here you will be bringing £ this is pounds sterling, What you need to bring is € (euros).

The euro is the currency of the republic of ireland bring about €700.

The pound (sterling) is the currency of northern ireland and the UK.

Dublin is in the republic hence you will need euros.

Hi Emma, You will love Dublin, i was there for 2 days last November, and i loved it so much i went for a day trip in April. I am going back in January for my mum's birthday. Have you booked your flight yet? I booked with Ryanair the flight only cost £20.00 each return, i have booked an apartment they have only been open since Feb. this year it is costing £87 for 4 adults we are only staying overnight but as you can see it is only costing us £21.50 ish each for the accommodation. I just typed in Dublin Apartments, when i stayed in Nov i stayed at Wynn's Hotel it cost 97 euros for 2 days B & B, so the appartment is cheaper.  The Hotel and Appartments are right in the middle of Dublin, just off O'Connell St.  When you go depending on how many there are (as you may want to get a taxi) get the Airlink bus into Dublin it is only 7 euros each, also go on a tour bus while you  are there it's around 14 euros each for a tour but it's a hop on hop off bus all day.  The Post Office on O'Connell St. is well worth a visit you cant miss it, and it's right near Henry St. a fabulous shopping street.  Go into Cleary's on O'Connell St a great department store.  We ate at Flannigan's both times we visited good food and quite reasonable, it's just past Henry St nr the bus information centre.  Have a great time .........

I like the Westin.  It's really close to Temple Bar.  It's been 3 years since I stayed there, but I think the room was around $250 a night.  I'd guess it's a little more now w/ the weak dollar.  

Also, There's a car park just across the street that's pretty cheap (if you have a rental).
