  1. make your arm your going to hit with, form a bow and arrow. Keep your arm staright and make it go bak like a bow. throw the ball up in from of the arm your hitting with. keep your fingers stiff and hit the ball with your palm and not fingers. keep your fingers about a half inch apart and stiff. hit the ball hard and watch it soar.

  2. Well, most people throw the ball up in the air when overhanding a serve. What I do is I just like place it up there and then just hit it. It's a lot easier because you don't have to anticipate when you should hit the ball,  because you know it's already in the perfect spot. Of course I don't hit it out of my hand, I just do a very smooth movement placing it in the air when and where I want it and then hitting.

I know it sounds confusing but it is very effective.

    :D

  3. Always keep your elbow up. kind of towards your ear.

  4. OVERHAND SERVE

    TEACHING KEYWORDS

    ARM TOSS

With firm wrist, arm toss the ball 18 inches - so that the ball falls to the spot just inside of the lead foot and in line with the hitting shoulder.

HAND UP AND BACK BEFORE THE TOSS

Elbow and hand are at shoulder height or above throughout the entire serving motion.

    SHIFT

Shift weight to lead foot, or step forward, as you make contact with the ball.

    SWING TO TARGET

    Wrist firm throughout serve.

Contact with heel of hand through middle back of ball.

The contact should sound like a "thud", not a "slap" sound.

    Hand follows ball to target.

Finish with hand alongside or within body line.

    PRACTICE IDEAS

Add pressure to the serve by putting on a time limit.

       - How many serves can you serve in one minute?

       - How many good serves can you do in a row?

       - How many serves can you hit onto a target?

btw...if you want to jump serve it follows the same guidelines just make sure you toos is right! it is all in the toss! trust me! you have to constantly practice tossing with out hitting...thats what makes a good jump serve.

  5. ok first of all do you want an over hand serve or a jump serve

because in your question you say overhand but you later go on to say jumping so which one is it because soem people WRONGLY jump while doing on overhand serve when they are learning
