  1. you even have buses.pick your choice

  2. Ditto what MJ3000 said....I like to see the sights from the train, plus they have cool restaurant cars...plus the train station is right there in downtown Munich ( the airport is quite a haul away). But the air fares are certainly dirt cheap...interesting thought >>I bet a taxi to the airport would cost around half of what the airline ticket would cost...?????maybe !!!

  3. It is hard to beat the airlines. I believe that they opened a new train route directly from mnich to Paris of the train. Bus would be may last choice.

  4. Europe has many budget airlines these days and flying between major Euro airports is cheap as old chips these days. So if you want to get there quick go that way. If you want to see the landscape and travel in comfort, which you really should when you're in Europe, I would highly recommend taking a train. The route you should try is Munich-Frankfurt-Paris. It will give you the best scenery and the most modern trains. Have fun! I'm completely envious!

  5. It depends on how quickly you want to get there and if you want to see anything along the way.

If speed is your goal, definitely fly.  You can get cheap flights (Ryan Air or GermanWings) very easily, sometimes as low as $10...ok, $80 with all the taxes added on.  This is probably also less than if you go by train unless you have a Bahncard.  My husband and I once got last minute round-trip flights from Frankfurt to Paris for less than $100 each.  Last minutes as in we just walked up to the counter and bought the tickets and landed in P less than two hours later!

If you want to see things along the way, the train is your best bet.  It's much more comfortable than the bus, and you see a lot of the countryside.  It is a long ride from M to P though.  If you don't want to waste a day traveling, book an overnight trip.  But then you don't get to see anything and might as well fly.

Here's a sample of costs and durations of train trips.

  6. Check low cost airlines and compare with ICE-TGV rates.
